0

National Spelling Bee Champion Zaila Avant-Garde joins our episode titled, “The Power of Parenting,” to discuss her new books, one of which was inspired by her mom. Titled “It’s Not Bragging If It’s True,” the book aims to help empower kids to embrace their inner weirdness—something Zaila’s mom has always encouraged her to do. The 16-year-old also tells us about what life has been like after making history as the first Black contestant to win the Scripps National Spelling, her other children’s book “Words of Wonder From Z to A” and heading to college. We didn’t think it was possible but now we love Zaila even more!
