A lottery winner scores huge on her birthday, multiple time lottery winners and record setting jackpots claimed! The lottery winner news stories in this video include:
1) It was a very happy birthday for one woman in Nova Scotia, Canada. Marie McCarthy won a $31 million Lotto Max prize in March of 2023 after her grandson gave her lottery tickets for her birthday.. It is the largest lottery jackpot ever won in Nova Scotia.
2) Someone won the lottery for the fourth time in the state of Maryland. He won $50,000 on a scratch ticket, but it’s his 4th win of 50k or more.
3) Another winner in Maryland won for the 2nd time, but he attributes his win to a lucky hairstyle. He won $50k on a scratch ticket, but previously won $100k in 2015. During his first win, he had long hair. He cut it off after winning big, but then decided to grow it out again and won the lottery for a 2nd time!
4) Edwin Castro recently won the world record $2.04 billion dollar lottery jackpot in California. You cannot remain anonymous in CA, so his name was publicly released. He recently purchased a mansion in Hollywood Hills in the same neighborhood as Ariana Grande, Jimmy Kimmel and Dakota Johnson. However, there is also a woman who purchased a Powerball ticket for that very same drawing who was only 1 number shy of hitting the big one. She matched 5 of the 6 numbers to win a massive $1,149,661 dollars.
5) There is a $1.35 billion Mega Millions jackpot that was recently claimed in Lebanon, Maine. Although prizes can be claimed anonymously in Maine, this prize was claimed under the LLC, “LaKoma Island Investments”. They chose to receive the cash, half right away lump sum option of $723 million dollars before taxes. It is the second largest Mega Millions jackpot in history.
6) A Boeing worker recently won a $755 million Powerball prize in Auburn, Washington. A woman was grocery shopping with her daughter; she had already purchased a Powerball ticket, but she noticed the jackpot amount of $747 million. As a worker for Boeing, which builds 747 jets, she was inspired to purchase another ticket. And this lucky ticket that won her the jackpot!
