An early morning fire spread from a vacant rowhome to as many as four other homes Sunday in southwest Baltimore.Baltimore City fire spokeswoman Blair Adams said firefighters were called just before 3:30 a.m. to the 1500 block Ramsay Street.Adams said firefighters encountered heavy fire in four vacant rowhomes and one that was occupied. Two adults and a child were able to escape their home without injuries.”The family that was in the occupied home was able to get out on their own without any assistance from us and unharmed,” Adams said.One of the people said he and his wife carried their son, who is disabled, out of the home. He said he’s grateful they got out safely, but they still can’t find their cat. They’re devastated that everything they own is inside.Fire officials told 11 News they’re working with neighborhood services and the Red Cross to get the family placed somewhere safe and warm.Adams said the rowhome where the fire started was in the fire department’s system as a vacant, unsafe home, so firefighters fought the fire from the exterior only. Adams said there was a partial collapse in two of the vacant rowhomes.There’s no word yet on a cause.
