At 9 years old, Brayden Jorae is already an entrepreneur.The young CEO told WILX that with the help of his mom, Laura Jorae, he owns and operates Scoop-A-Poo, a dog waste management service in the area of Lansing, Michigan. Scoop-A-Poo’s slogan gets right down to business: “If your dog is poopin’, Brayden is Scoopin’.” Brayden told WILX that he was trying to come up with a way to earn some money when he saw a need for a service among senior citizens who are dog owners. Like a good entrepreneur, he decided to capitalize on it.”I wanted to start my business because you know how old people don’t really get out much because they’re like elderly? So I wanted to help some people and help them with stuff because I know that they love their furry friends so I just wanted to help them out,” Brayden said. Brayden’s mom helps him with marketing the business to neighbors via a private Scoop-A-Poo Facebook group, which requires customers to join to schedule appointments. Laura Jorae also drives her son to scheduled appointments. Though he’s young and his resume isn’t lengthy, Brayden already proves to be a hard worker. Images in the Scoop-A-Poo community group show him showing up to his scheduled appointments equipped with gloves on, a bag-lined bucket and his handy scooper. “I love helping people. I’ll scoop the poo before you say ew! Thank you for supporting me,” the Facebook group page states.It seems the young businessman has figured out that one of the keys to running a reputable business is offering strong customer service. He said that he values meeting with his customers and that he charges a reasonable rate.On the company’s Facebook page, Laura Jorae said she is proud of her son and that he “will definitely go far” with a strong work ethic and a humorous personality. “No poops too big, no poops too small — I’m Brayden Jorae and I’ll scoop them all,” Brayden said.The Jorae’s say that operating the business is allowing Brayden to learn about earning and managing money at a young age.
