Very *early* look at snow in Baltimore’s forecast over weekend

FORECAST WITH METEOROLOGIST TONY PANN. WELL, WE STARTED OUT THE NEW YEAR WITH SOME CLOUDS AND SOME SHOWERS AND EVEN A FEW SNOWFLAKES IN SOME AREAS. THIS COULD BE A PRETTY ACTIVE WEATHER WEEK COMING UP HERE, ALTHOUGH I THINK TOMORROW THINGS ARE GOING TO GET A LOT BETTER AS WE HEAD INTO TUESDAY. LOTS OF SUNSHINE IN THE FORECAST BY THEN. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE CURRENT CONDITIONS RIGHT NOW THE TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 40S. IT’S 40 AT BWI MARSHALL A NORTHWEST WIND AT SIX MILES PER HOUR. TEMPERATURES ELSEWHERE UPPER 30S. AND THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE EVEN IF YOU SEE A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD, THE TEMPERATURES ARE WAY ABOVE FREEZING. SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING STICKING TO THE ROADS TODAY IT’S 38, IN WOODBINE. SAME THING IN WESTMINSTER. TEMPERATURES WILL EVENTUALLY DROP BACK INTO THE MID 30S OVERNIGHT. PRETTY SOLID AREA OF LIGHTRILLIONAIN AROUND BALTIMORE RIGHT NOW. MOST OF THE SNOW IS IN THE WESTERN SUBURBS AND THIS WHOLE SYSTEM IS KIND OF LIKE SINKING DOWN TO THE SOUTH VERY SLOWLY. SO LIKE I SAID AT THE TOP OF THE SHOW, ONCE WE GET PAST 8 OR 9:00 TONIGHT, MOST OF THIS WILL BE MOVING OFF THE COAST AND THE WEATHER WILL SETTLE DOWN. AND WE’RE SETTING UP FOR SOME NICE WEATHER AS EVERYBODY HEADS BACK TO WORK AND SCHOOL ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. BUT THERE WILL BE A COUPLE OF CHANCES FOR SNOW THIS WEEK, SO LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THIS ON OUR FUTURE CAST. WE’LL SET THE TIME FRAME INTO TOMORROW MORNING, SEE THE COMPUTER CLEARS THINGS OUT BY THEN. IT WILL BE CHILLY. TUESDAY MORNING WHEN YOU WAKE UP UPPER 20S AND LOW 30S, BUT NO PRECIPITATION. SUNSHINE IN THE AFTERNOON, THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE 40S, RIGHT AROUND NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. SO SEASONABLY CHILLY. KIND OF THE SAME THING ON WEDNESDAY. MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS. THE WEATHER IS GOING TO BE DRY. THE TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE MID 40S IN THE AFTERNOON NOW. THURSDAY ANOTHER SYSTEM COMES IN FROM THE SAME DIRECTION IT’S GOING TO BE KIND OF LIKE THE ONE THAT WENT THROUGH TODAY, BUT THE BEST CHANCE FOR ANY RAIN OR SNOW WOULD BE IN THE MORNING ON THURSDAY. THIS IS RIGHT BEFORE 5 A.M. YOU NOTICE THIS COMPUTER MODEL HAS TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO FREEZING. SO IF WE DO GET A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW NORTH AND WEST OF I-95 THURSDAY MORNING, THERE’S A CHANCE THAT SOME OF THAT COULD STICK, ESPECIALLY UP NEAR THE PENNSYLVANIA LINE. WE’LL KEEP AN EYE ON THAT. AND THEN THAT STORM WILL MOVE OFF THE COAST AND THINGS WILL CLEAR UP IN THE AFTERNOON BEFORE A BIGGER STORM COMES IN. AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE WEEKEND. SO THE FORECAST IN DETAIL GOES LIKE THIS MIX OF RAIN AND SNOW ENDING THIS EVENING. OTHERWISE MOSTLY CLOUDY. THE SKY WILL CLEAR LATE TONIGHT, BUT GENERALLY CLOUDY TEMPERATURES WILL DROP BACK INTO THE LOW TO MID 30S DURING THE DAY TOMORROW. LOTS OF SUNSHINE. PRETTY DECENT DAY. JUST A LITTLE BIT CHILLY. THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE BETWEEN 41 AND 46. SUNNY RISES AT 726. SEVEN DAY FORECAST A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS ON WEDNESDAY WITH A HIGH TEMPERATURE NEAR 47 ON THURSDAY. THAT CHANCE FOR A LITTLE BIT OF SNOW OR RAIN EARLY IN THE MORNING. THE HIGH NEAR 42 AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND, A MORE SIGNIFICANT STORM IS GOING TO COME UP THE COAST AND I THINK FOR THE FIRST TIME TIME IN A COUPLE OF YEARS, WE HAVE A CHANCE TO GET A SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL HERE IN THE BALTIMORE METRO LATE SATURDAY AND INTO SUNDAY. OF COURSE, THEY MOVED THE RAVENS GAME TO SATURDAY. MIGHT EVEN START SNOWING DURING

One of the first “significant” snowfalls in years could come to Baltimore this weekend.

Temperatures will be seasonably cool in the 40s through the first part of the week.

Then, temperatures will drop close to freezing early Thursday morning, and some areas near the Pennsylvania line could see a small amount of snow.

By Saturday night, that’s when we’re seeing the possibility for a significant snowfall — the first time in a couple years for Baltimore. It could even start snowing during the Ravens-Steelers game Saturday afternoon in Baltimore.

Baltimore’s official weather station at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport only got 0.2 of an inch of snow over all of 2023.
