0

The Maryland Hunt Cup is a timber race, which is an American steeplechase that involves jumping over solid wooden fences. It is one of the most challenging and prestigious steeplechase races in the world, attracting horses and riders from across North America and beyond. The race was first run in 1894 as a friendly competition between two local hunt clubs, and has since become a tradition in Maryland’s horse country. The race is four miles long and has 22 fences, some of which are over four feet high. The race is held on the last Saturday of April every year at its permanent location in Worthington Valley, Maryland. The Maryland Hunt Cup is part of a series of timber races that also includes My Lady’s Manor and the Grand National.
