In August 2019 I took my first visit to Hamersley Public Golf Course, a cracking little track a short stroll away from Lake Karrinyup, host of the ISPS Handa Super 6 European Tour Event. Only 15 mins from the city, I can’t believe it took me this long to play it and will certainly be returning.
It’s a heck of a lot easier to get on this place than the elite Lake Karrinyup, and you won’t be disappointed if you do find yourself on the ‘other’ course in the area! Great value even at the weekends ($31.50 when I played) and a course that will test every golfer that isn’t laser straight (so basically all of us!) even though there are very few hazards aside from the many trees that line all fairways. I counted 4 bunkers – and avoided all of them – and no water which is testament to how a course can still be challenging without loading it with hazards.
The other great thing about this round was I played with one of my followers, Matt Dumble. We often overlook the social element of golf, and a meetup like this is what it is all about!
