Drive-by shooting reported in Middle River

Baltimore County police are investigating a drive-by double shooting in Middle River.Witnesses saw a car crash and shooting Tuesday morning at the intersection of Martin Boulevard and Compass Road in Middle River.”It was like a car and the car came next to it like an SUV and it just let off like an automatic rifle type thing they were blazing out there,” said one witness who wanted to remain anonymous.The witness works at a nearby gas station and said the incident took unfolded around 10:15 a.m. He said a police officer wasn’t far behind the crash and jumped into action. “He came, pried the door then like five minutes later, there were a lot of cop cars came in and an ambulance and a fire truck everybody started crowding around and then they blocked off the area for like three hours,” the witness said. “It was a lot of police they blocked the road right there I seen the tape all around. It was like chaos. It was like crazy.”Police said two people were shot multiple times. Both were taken to a hospital. There is no word on their condition.Police are calling it a drive-by shooting but are still investigating what happened. “Our detectives are in the process of discovering what actually transpired here and putting the pieces together of actually what happened here,” said Baltimore County police Detective Trae Corbin. People in the area are flabbergasted that someone would open fire in the middle of the morning along a busy road. “That’s nuts. Open during the day, just blatantly shoot somebody like that,” said Baltimore County resident Terry Bolyard.”This shouldn’t be happening like roads like this you know. There’s families, there’s people shopping, there’s kids, CVS, Walgreens. This shouldn’t be happening here — a kid could’ve probably got hurt you know,” the unnamed witness said.They are hopeful that police will find whoever is responsible and bring them to justice. “I don’t know if this person will get caught but we can hope right. We can hope for the best, especially for the two people that were in the car. I know they were both wounded, so I hope they get better,” said Baltimore County resident Jalen Matthew.
