THEY MARRIED 72 YEARS AND IN JUNE, WHICH IS JUST THREE MONTHS, WILL BE 73 YEARS CELEBRATING THEIR DECADES OF LOVE. THE TWO ADMIT TO EACH OTHER WITH MATCHING T SHIRTS IN HAND. FRED AND BETTY KEPT THE ROMANCE ALIVE BY HAVING DATES AT CHICK FIL A EVERY MONDAY, RAIN OR SHINE. WHEN COVID STARTED, YOU COULDN’T COME IN. SO WE DECIDED, WELL, LET’S JUST GET ONE ANY TIME. WE DID AND WE LIKED IT. SO MUCH. WE’VE DONE IT DURING THE SNOW, THE RAIN AND THE WIND AND EVERYTHING. SO THE RESTAURANT DECIDED TO MAKE THEIR WEEKLY DATE. ONE TO REMEMBER VIP STYLE. SO WE COORDINATED A LIMOUSINE TO PICK THEM UP FOR THEIR SPECIAL DAY, AND WE FOUND OUT WHAT THEY LIKE TO EAT. Love is in the air at a Chick-fil-A in Pennsylvania, but it’s not passion for poultry that has created a romantic atmosphere at the restaurant.It’s a barbershop quartet that was hired by a western Pennsylvania Chick-fil-A to serenade Betty and Fred Abdon. The restaurant is about 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.Betty Abdon said, “We’ve been married 72 years and in June, which is just 3 months, it will be 73 years.”While celebrating their decades of love, the two hold matching T-shirts that read, “You had me at waffle fries.”Fred Abdon said, “Very surprised and very pleased. Chick-fil-A has been our favorite for years.” Fred and Betty kept the romance alive by having dates at Chick-fil-A every Monday, rain or shine.“When COVID started, you couldn’t come in, so we decided, well, let’s just eat outside. We did and we liked it so much, we’ve done it during the snow, the rain and the wind and everything,” Betty Abdon said.So the Chick-fil-A location decided to make their weekly date one to remember, V.I.P. style. “We coordinated a limousine to pick them up for their special date and we found out what they like to eat and got them some special gifts to make the date even more fantastic,” Noriene Schmit, the hospitality director for Chick-fil-A restaurants in the area, said.
