SHA To Resurface A Section Of MD 243 In Leonardtown

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is resurfacing a section of MD 243 (Newtowne Neck Road) between Bull Road and Bayside Road in Saint Mary’s County. The project is expected to be complete by late September, weather permitting.

The State Highway Administration’s contractor, F.O. Day Company of Rockville, will guide motorists using a daytime flagging operation along MD 243 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Drivers should plan extra commuting time during the project.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers are reminded to remain alert for lane shifts and reduce speeds when traveling through the work zone. Customers who have questions may contact the District 5 office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.
