Lady In The Lake’s Byron Bowers Joins Marvel Studios Wonder Man Series

Byron Bowers has joined the ensemble cast of the Marvel and Disney+ series Wonder Man. He will be joining Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who stars in the titular role. Bowers’ specific role in the series is currently unknown.

Wonder Man is directed by Daniel Destin Cretton, who will helm multiple episodes alongside Stella Meghie. Andrew Guest serves as the head writer, with Cretton and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige as executive producers.

The character Wonder Man, created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby, was first introduced in 1964 in The Avengers #9. Simon Williams, also known as Wonder Man, is the son of industrialist Sanford Williams. He gains ion-based superpowers, including super strength, while working under the villainous Baron Zemo and initially establishes himself as an antagonist to The Avengers. However, he later decides to join the superhero team.

Bowers will also be seen in the Alma Har’el directed limited series Lady in the Lake, starring alongside Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. He served as a consulting producer on the series, which is set among racial and socioeconomic tensions in 1960s Baltimore. The series premieres on July 19th on Apple TV+.

Bowers’ other credits include Amazon’s Swarm and the Showtime series The Chi. He is represented by WME, Range Media Partners, and Garrett Legal.
