Tanker crash spills tar all over Moravia Road

THE SCENE. WHAT’S GOING ON, ROY? THIS IS ACTUALLY MORAVIA ROAD, WHICH IS OVER TOP OF 895 WHERE A TRACTOR TRAILER THAT IS A TANKER APPEARS TO HAVE CRASHED AT THE LOCATION. AND THE OIL THAT IT WAS CARRYING IS NOW SPILLED ALL OVER THE MORAVIA ROAD, WHICH HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN. PIECES OF THE CONCRETE JERSEY WALL HAVE BEEN BROKEN OFF AND ARE ON THE SOUTHBOUND LANES OF 895. WE DON’T KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT, NOR DO WE KNOW IF ANYBODY’S INJURED. BUT IT’S OBVIOUSLY A LARGE HAZMAT ASSORTMENT THAT IS DOING HERE BECAUSE OF ALL THE CLEANUP THAT’S GOING TO BE NECESSARY WITH ALL THIS BLACK, THICK OIL SITTING ON MORAVIA ROAD. NOW THEY HAVE SHUT DOWN. IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT EASTBOUND MORAVIA ROAD. THEY HAVE SHUT DOWN SOUTHBOUND 895. THEY HAVE TWO LANES NOW OPEN ON 895 GOING NORTHBOUND. BUT WE DON’T KNOW HOW LONG IT’S GOING TO TAKE THEM TO CLEAR THIS UP, NOR THE INSPECTION OF THE BRIDGE DUE TO THE DAMAGE AS WE GET MORE, WE WILL UPDATE YOU

Parts of the concrete jersey wall were broken into pieces.SkyTeam 11 reported that the tanker was traveling in the Interstate 95 express lanes and failed to negotiate a turn on the Moravia Road bridge over I-895. A tanker crash shut down the Moravia Road bridge and a portion of Interstate 895 in northeast Baltimore.

SkyTeam 11 reported that a tanker crashed and turned onto its side, spilling tar all over Moravia Road, which was shut down. Parts of the concrete jersey wall were broken into pieces.

SkyTeam 11 reported that the tanker was traveling in the Interstate 95 express lanes and failed to negotiate a turn on the Moravia Road bridge over I-895. SkyTeam 11 reported the driver was injured.

Southbound I-895 is shut down approaching Moravia Road, but the northbound lanes remained open.

Cleanup crews are at the scene.
