FRIENDSHIP, Md. – A tragic single-vehicle accident on the night of July 14, 2024, claimed the life of a District Heights woman and seriously injured a man.
Emergency personnel responded to a crash on Friendship Road near Fairhaven Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. Upon investigation, it was revealed that a 2020 Nissan Versa was traveling at high speed when the driver failed to handle a left-hand curve. The vehicle veered off the road, ascended an embankment, struck multiple trees, and overturned in a ditch.
The driver and front seat passenger were rushed to the UM Capital Region Medical Center. The driver went into cardiac arrest while en route and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver has been identified as Ramiah Carleen-Teresa Peoples, 25, of District Heights, Maryland. The passenger, 24-year-old Elijah Sevonne Brown, also from District Heights, was seriously injured.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department Traffic Safety Section is investigating.
