Will Tao Las Vegas be Completed Next to Venetian? • This Week in Gambling

There’s never a shortage of rumors in Las Vegas… and this is a good one. Perhaps you’ve already heard the rumblings that Tao Las Vegas will take over the abandoned Marco Polo Tower tower at the Venetian. And if not, now you have. Some Sin City insiders have noticed some strange happenings around the property lately. And the thought is that a new “boutique” style hotel will soon join the Strip.

The exact location we’re discussing is located on the Venetian property. The abandoned St. Regis hotel tower, to be precise. Construction of that proposed third tower stalled well over a decade ago and it’s just been sitting there. After the death of Sheldon Adelson, the Venetian changed ownership and is now managed by Apollo. That company has been working with Tao Group to build smaller hotel on the property, akin to the Nobu down at Caesars Palace. And bets are that the new, smaller hotel will be Tao Las Vegas.

Tao Group made headlines back in 2022 with the announcement of Tao Hotel Orlando, slated for an opening next year. This marks their venture into the hospitality sector, with potential plans for a Las Vegas location on the horizon. Rockwell Group, renowned in Las Vegas, is the design firm behind the Florida project. Some Vegas insiders are reporting that construction work to finish Tao Las Vegas will begin in 2025, and that Tao Group will manage the resort.

Of course, it’s always good to remember that these are just rumors… even with increased activity around the property. Venetian has been very quiet about any plans for the tower, and even if they are true things can change quickly in Vegas. The economy, special events, and even pandemics can greatly alter the course of even the most planned and well-funded projects. So for now, just keep the possibility of Tao Las Vegas between us.
