PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. – The Police Accountability Board (PAB) is meeting on August 28th at 6:30 pm to discuss issues of ethical police conduct in Prince George’s County. You can join the meeting online via Zoom by following this link.
Eleven Prince George’s County residents make up the Police Accountability Board. The board meets quarterly with leaders of law enforcement agencies in the county. Twice per year, the PAB holds meetings with community members as well.
There are a few primary responsibilities designated to the Police Accountability Board. Their tasks include holding community meetings, reviewing police misconduct complaints, and pinpointing police accountability issues in Prince George’s County.
One of its most important tasks, the PAB, “Reviews the disciplinary outcomes of investigations that were conducted by law enforcement agencies and forwarded to the Administrative Charging Committee for disposition,” according to the Prince George’s County website.
Although the Police Accountability Board has many goals, its Strategic Plan states that its mission is “To work with the community, Law Enforcement Agencies, and the Prince George’s County government to improve transparency, accountability, and equity in policing.”
If you’re interested in getting involved with the PAB, then you can make your voice heard by contributing public comments in a Police Accountability Board meeting. To make public comments, you need to register by sending an email to pgpab@co.pg.md.us prior to the last Wednesday before a meeting.
Additionally, the Police Accountability Board is open to receiving resumes from residents interested in civilian positions for the Administrative Hearing Board. You can send all resumes to pgpab@co.pg.md.us if you’re interested in furthering your involvement with the PAB.
