Academy Award-nominee Timothée Chalamet has already awed in iconic roles like Dune‘s Paul Atreides, Little Women‘s Laurie, and a young and sweet Willy Wonka in Wonka. Now, he’s playing the one and only Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. And from the looks of this first teaser, he’s doing a solid job of capturing the folk music legend’s signature singing style.
From Logan director James Mangold comes this biopic, which is based on the Elijah Wald-penned biography Dylan Goes Electric! Rather than pulling back and looking at the whole of Dylan’s decades long, and wildly influential career, A Complete Unknown will focus a 19-year-old Dylan forging his path as a folk singer, then shocking the music industry by breaking into electric rock at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965. It was a moment that changed American music forever.
Joining Chalamet in A Complete Unknown are Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook, Dan Fogler, Norbert Leo Butz, and Scoot McNairy. With a cast and helmer like this, you might be hearing Oscar buzz very soon.
A Complete Unknown will come exclusively to theaters in December.
