Town Of Chesapeake Beach Independence Day Celebration!

CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. – The Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Chesapeake Beach announce the Town’s annual Fireworks Display will occur on July 3rd at Dusk with a Rain Date of July 6, 2024.

The Town is permitted by the Fire Marshall and the U.S. Coast Guard to position two barges directly behind the Chesapeake Beach Veterans Memorial Park launching approximately 9,000 pyrotechnic shells for an Independence Day Celebration of RedWhiteBlueGlitter and Gold. The display will be live streamed with synchronized music on the Town’s YouTube Channel and is expected to last approximately 27 minutes.

Due to transporting a pyrotechnical display on the Bay where conditions change quickly, the Town monitors the weather and Bay conditions to make a final decision on the safety of carrying out the display based on the current and projected weather forecast. The Town is already monitoring the weather and will make an additional assessment on Monday July 1, 2024. All notices related to the Town of Chesapeake Beach Fireworks Display will come from the Town of Chesapeake Beach. Notices will be sent by the Town through the Town website via e-blasts – so please ensure you are subscribed to the Town’s official notices so that you receive them! See below for further details and the Town’s traffic plan on the night of the display!

There are several locations where you can view the display in the Town of Chesapeake Beach. If you are visiting Town, the best location to view the display is at one of our local businesses! Stop in for dinner at a Town of Chesapeake Beach restaurant or visit a local business, enjoy a front row seat at the Chesapeake Beach Veterans Memorial Park, or view the display from the Heroes Bridge or other safe walkways in Town. Come early and enjoy some time in our open green space at Kellam’s field. Town staff will be available with yard games and activities for guests to enjoy.

Traffic PlanThe traffic plan is set up to eliminate all left-hand turns on a portion of Route 261 going through the Twin Beaches, eliminating the need to stop traffic randomly and enabling traffic to flow with minimal stopping. The centerline of Route 261 will be blocked with delineation devices that will prohibit vehicles from making U-turns. Traffic north of Route 260 along Route 261 on the east side of Route 261 must make right turns and exit left on 5th Street to Boyd’s Turn Road to Route 260. Traffic on the west side of Route 261 must make a right turn and exit on 27th Street to G Street to Route 260. Traffic south of Route 260 along Route 261 on the east side of Route 261 must make a right turn and must turn left onto Route 260. Traffic on the west side of Route 261 must turn right and continue along Route 261 to Summer City Blvd or continue south to Ponds Wood Road and proceed to Maryland Route 4. The above traffic plan will be instituted around the time of the start of Fireworks and is expected to be in place. There will be deputies posted at all intersections with heavy traffic flow to ensure compliance with the traffic flow plan.

Happy Independence Day, Town of Chesapeake Beach!
