
CALIFORNIA, Md. – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch in effect until 7:00 AM on Friday, August 9, 2024, for southern Maryland and surrounding areas. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
The remnants of tropical storm Debby will move across the region through Friday night. Potential impacts include flooding due to heavy rainfall, a brief tornado, gusty winds, and additional tidal flooding.

In Southern Maryland:
- Calvert
- Charles
- St. Mary’s
In Central Maryland:
- Anne Arundel
- Howard
- Montgomery
- Prince George’s
In North Central Maryland:
- Carroll
- Frederick
- Washington
In Northern Maryland:
- Baltimore
- Baltimore City
- Harford
If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
