TikTok’s adding another music integration with a new “Share to TikTok” option that’ll enable users to share music from Apple Music and Spotify to TikTok.
As you can see in this example, the new music sharing option will enable users to easily post what they’re listening to on Apple Music or Spotify direct to TikTok, with a range of sticker types that you can use to highlight the track.
Here’s how it looks sharing from Spotify.
Users will also be able to share tracks via DM, with the stickers opening to the track listing in Apple Music or Spotify when tapped.
As explained by TikTok:
“Our “Share To TikTok” integration enables seamless sharing of content from music streaming services to TikTok, unlocking a limitless new method of creative expression for users and creators alike, along with an ability for artists, authors, and podcasters to seamlessly connect with their audiences on TikTok.”
I mean, “limitless” seems like a pretty big statement, but it is another way to share music in the app. And given that TikTok has become a key platform for music discovery, enabling more music engagement is a key focus for the app.
Indeed, research shows that TikTok users are significantly more likely to both discover and share new music content in the app, while 75% of its users also find new artists via TikTok clips.
TikTok’s influence on the music industry is now so significant, that some artists have even changed the names of their tracks to align with in-app trends.
As such, it makes sense for TikTok to double down on music discovery where it can, and to help users amplify their favorite artists in-stream.
Providing a direct link back to streaming services could be a valuable driver in this regard, helping users easily go from hearing a clip of the track to connecting to the whole thing, as well as the artists’ entire catalog.
TikTok says that the new sharing integration is now live in the app.
