The North Beach Farmers’ Market taking place every Saturday throughout October 26 (8 am to 11:30 am), located at Senior Center Parking Lot, 9010 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MD – We are pleased to continue our traditional, small-town atmosphere farmers’ market for the 2024 season! The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach encourages all guests to HELP REDUCE WASTE by bringing your own bag and using the appropriate disposal containers provided at the market.

Calvert County Farmers Market in Lusby taking place every Saturday throughout September 21 (9 am to 1 pm), located at Sneade’s Ace Home Center – Parking Lot, 11861 HG Truman Road, Lusby, MD – Buying local is easy with an abundance of fresh food from Calvert County’s farmers, agri-businesses and watermen. Stars & Stripes Weekend @LPFM on July 6 (9 am to 2 pm), located at La Plata Farmers Market, 209 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD – Independence Day may fall on a Thursday this year, but we’re celebrating the great American independent spirit through the weekend. Come out and help our market entrepreneurs grow their business!

Petting Pen on July 6 (10 am to 1 pm), located at Serenity Farm at Benedict, 6932 Serenity Farm Rd, Benedict, MD – The petting pen will be open the 1st Saturday of each month from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, May through August.

The Shops At Waldorf Center Farmers Market taking place every Saturday through mid-November (weather permitting) (10 am to 2 pm), located at Shops at Waldorf Center, 3003 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD – Guests are encouraged to visit the Farmers Market, held in the parking lot near CAVA, to find fresh local fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, apples, oranges, asparagus, avocados and tomatoes. Additionally, there will also be local makers, soaps, honey, baked goods and flowers. Visiting the Farmers Market is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required. Friday Summer Roller Skating at Leonard Hall Recreation Center every Friday through August 9 (1 pm to 4 pm), located at Leonard Hall Recreation Center, 23145 Leonard Hall Drive, Leonardtown, MD – Summer Friday Skate is back! Join us at Leonard Hall Recreation Center every Friday from June 7 – August 9 for roller skating, music and fun! $5 to enter and $2.50 for skate rentals or you can bring your own skates. Drop-In Basketball at Carver Recreation Center every Saturday through July 6 (9 am to 12:30 pm), located at Carver Recreation Center, 47382 Lincoln Avenue, Lexington Park, MD – Join us for a drop-in basketball event at Carver Recreation Center on Saturdays. Two sessions are available: Players in grades 6-8 from 9:00-10:30am Players in grades 9 & 10 from 11:00am-12:30pm Fees: $5 per session ($7 per session for non- residents). To guarantee your spot, participants must register in advance. Registration is open beginning at 9:00am the Monday prior and closes at 12:00pm on the Friday prior. Join our waterfront staff for a morning of fun hands-on activities that demonstrate the science, mechanics, and mathematics involved in sailing a tall ship. Participants will experiment with concepts such as buoyancy, draught, windage and more! Sotterley Presents: People & Perspectives with Merideth Taylor on July 10 (7 pm), located at History Sotterley, 44300 Sotterley Lane , Hollywood, MD – Join us and author Merideth Taylor for a speaker event and book signing for her new book, “Making a Way out of No Way”. The photographs and stories in this book cover 150 years of slavery on tobacco plantations in Southern Maryland and the communities of men, women, and children who were subjected to this system. Merideth Taylor chose to largely avoid graphic depictions of the violence perpetrated on enslaved people to instead allow the reader to focus on the resilience, ingenuity, skills, and cultural strengths that enabled them to make a way out of no way. Merideth Taylor will discuss her motivations, insights, and journey to writing this book. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event and you can get them signed by Merideth! This event is FREE and hybrid, meaning you can join us in-person or virtually. Registration is required. In-person participants are welcome to join us for a pre-reception at 6:15 pm.

Spend a morning at Godiah Spray Plantation (Historic St. Mary’s City) for this fabric-focused workshop. Learn about different types of outfits worn by 17th-century Europeans, and what various fabrics & accessories could reveal about a person.
