CALVERT COUNTY

The North Beach Farmers’ Market taking place every Saturday throughout October 26 (8 am to 11:30 am), located at Senior Center Parking Lot, 9010 Chesapeake Avenue, North Beach, MD – We are pleased to continue our traditional, small-town atmosphere farmers’ market for the 2024 season! The market will include local vendors with items such as plants, farm vegetables, baked goods, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods. The Town of North Beach encourages all guests to HELP REDUCE WASTE by bringing your own bag and using the appropriate disposal containers provided at the market.

Calvert County Farmers Market in Lusby taking place every Saturday throughout September 21 (9 am to 1 pm), located at Sneade’s Ace Home Center – Parking Lot, 11861 HG Truman Road, Lusby, MD – Buying local is easy with an abundance of fresh food from Calvert County’s farmers, agri-businesses and watermen. Patrons can find local produce, meat, bedding plants (vegetables and herbs) and a bounty of other offerings at these “producer only” markets. Sharkfest on July 13 (10 am to 5 pm), located at Calvert Marine Museum, 

14200 Solomons Island Rd S, Solomons, MD – Celebrate all things shark, all day, at CMM! Live sharks will be featured in the Corbin Pavilion for viewing. Learn fascinating ‘sharktoids’, examine evidence of prehistoric sharks, and take a picture in the life-size jaws of a Megalodon shark. Food and drinks will be for sale on site. Strollers and carts are not allowed in the museum for SHARKFEST. We strongly recommend purchasing admission tickets in advance. Capacity is limited.

Calvert Artists Guild Art Show and Sale on July 13 (10 am to 6 pm) and July 14 (10 am to 5 pm), located at Southern Maryland Sailing Association, Solomons Island Road, Solomons, MD – Local artists show and offer for sale painting, photography, jewelry, glasswork, scratch board, mixed media and much more. Free event.

Wizard of Oz taking place on select dates from July 12 through July 28, located at Port Tobacco Players, 508 Charles St, La Plata, MD – This delightful production follows the adventures of Dorothy, a young girl transported to the magical land of Oz by a tornado, just like in the iconic film. Blue Mermaid taking place on select dates from July 12 through July 20, located at Indian Head Center for the Arts, 4185 Indian Head Highway, Indian Head, MD – An Independent production. Tickets required.

Classic Car Show on July 13 (9 am to 3 pm), located at The Shops at Waldorf Center, 3003 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD – Join us for the Shops at Waldorf Center Classic Car Show of 2024 with DMV Rod’s & Classic’s Car Club. All cars welcome! 100 trophies awarded! Food vendors, live music and raffles. Plus, while here eat, drink and shop at our great retailers and restaurants! Rain Date: July 14.

Human Trafficking Awareness Event on July 13 (9 am to 3 pm), located at CCSO Headquarters Building, 6915 Crain Highway, La Plata, MD – Teen Court is hosting a Human Trafficking Awareness Event to help provide information and resources to the community. This outdoor event will include: multiple presentations to educate the community on human trafficking issues; the Red Sand Project which is an artistic installation meant to raise awareness on human trafficking and exploitation; and will feature community partners with information and resources. These resources could assist someone who may currently be or has been a victim of trafficking or to other members of the community in a variety of situations. The event will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm with 2 information presentations geared for adults in the morning and the Red Sand Project at 1:00pm. Resource cover the tri-county area and the event is free and open to the public. Free event. 

The Shops At Waldorf Center Farmers Market taking place every Saturday through mid-November (weather permitting) (10 am to 2 pm), located at Shops at Waldorf Center, 3003 Festival Way, Waldorf, MD – Guests are encouraged to visit the Farmers Market, held in the parking lot near CAVA, to find fresh local fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, apples, oranges, asparagus, avocados and tomatoes. Additionally, there will also be local makers, soaps, honey, baked goods and flowers. Visiting the Farmers Market is free and open to the public; no pre-registration is required.
