Watching TV is a part of pretty much everyone’s lives. Whether it’s your favourite drama, comedy or soap series, there is always a show for everyone no matter what TV you like. Another genre of TV shows people have enjoyed for years are game shows. Each year, there are a number of game shows around for people to watch, from shows based around questions and knowledge to players trying to complete tasks, they’ve all got one goal at the end, for the contestants to win money.
Just like if you were playing at an online casino, the players are there to try to have fun, but to also try to win some money. These game shows have been around for many years, with shows going as far back over forty years, due to their popularity, they’ve continued to thrive and be ever present in the TV space.

Who wants to be a millionaire
Possibly one of the most well known game modes of all time, who wants to be a millionaire is a game show where a player will have to answer a set of questions, each time they get one right, they move up the ladder and more money is put in the bank. However if they get one wrong, they lose it all. The questions are general knowledge and are completely random so you’ll need a broad knowledge to go far.
You can also have lifelines, where you can take away two wrong answers, ask the judge for their opinion or ask a friend for advice to see if they know. Everyone has the intentions going into it to win the million, however few actually come out achieving this. Many people do however come away with life changing amounts and if things go their way, can go a long way on this game mode.
Family feud
Hosted by Dr Phil, Family Feud is a game show where two families will go head to head to try to win prizes and cash. The game consists of five family members each side, with one each being the captain. There will be questions asked each round with the host going through each family member taking one answer from each.
Once each family member has provided their answer, the captain will choose the best one from the family and which one they think will get the most points. Family Feud is a test of character, trusting your family but also your own instincts, as playing against another family, you’ll have to be at your very best.
The cube
Originally released in the UK, The Cube is a game show where contestants need to complete physical games to win money. Each round, they’ll be tasked with a random mini game with challenges they need to complete. If they manage to complete it, they move onto the next round. The player will only have a set number of lives but does have lifelines to make the game easier, where if you use one, it will make that specific game easier to complete.
Before each game, a demonstration will be shown of the game, at this point you can decide to either take the money you’re on, or try the game, however if you fail the game once in, you’ll lose all your money.
It’s a great spin on game shows and can really put players to the test and push their limits.
Deal or no deal
Another well known game is deal or no deal. In this game, the player will have the choice multiple times to either keep or swap a box. Within this box is an amount of money, and at the end of the game, you’ll keep whichever one you’re left with.
The key point to the game is you never know the amount in the box you have, so you’ll need to try to get rid of the smaller amounts as that leaves more chance for the higher amount to be in your box. It’s a game of nerves, with them also offering you a deal throughout the game, as the banker as he’s called, does know how much is in your box.
If you’ve ever played a casino game, you’ll understand how difficult some of these games can be. Whether it’s a physical or mental game, it’s not as easy as it looks on TV, as when there’s money on the line, there is added pressure that isn’t there when watching from home.
