Teen Pedestrian Dies In Waldorf Early Morning Crash

WALDORF, Md. — On July 21, 2024, shortly after 1:20 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a pedestrian-involved crash on US Rt. 301, Crain Highway, in the area of Acton Lane in Waldorf.

According to a preliminary investigation, a white 2019 Nissan Murano was traveling northbound on US Rt. 301, north of Acton Lane, when it struck a pedestrian standing in the roadway.

The pedestrian was identified as Wilmer Roman Esquivel, 17, of Brentwood, New York. He was declared deceased at the scene by Charles County EMS personnel.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Maryland State Police.
