A Maryland State Trooper was injured early Monday morning after being rear-ended by a suspected impaired driver in a highway work zone on Interstate 495 in Montgomery County.According to the Maryland State Police, around 4:30 a.m., a trooper was rear-ended while in his vehicle that was in a highway work zone. He was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Police said after an investigation, it was determined that a white Mercedes-Benz SUV entered the construction zone and struck the rear of the patrol vehicle. The driver of a white Mercedes SUV is identified as Anthony Bowser, 31, of Washington, D.C. Bowser was transported to Suburban Hospital. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and consultation with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. A Maryland State Police crash team is on the scene to investigate the accident. Multiple lanes of the inner loop of I-495 are closed and drivers are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes. This story will be updated.
