CALIFORNIA, Md. – The Southern Maryland Navy Alliance (SMNA) held its Annual Membership Dinner on September 19, 2024. The event was held in the Southern Maryland Autonomous Research and Technology (SMART) building located at the St. Mary’s County AeroPark Innovation District. The 2024 Annual Dinner attendees included over 190 local, regional and state leaders from government, industry, and academia celebrating the past year’s initiatives and accomplishments.
The featured dinner speaker, the esteemed Maryland Lieutenant Governor, Ms. Aruna Miller, provided strong support, encouragement and respect for the mission and accomplishments of the SMNA and its members. “It was a great opportunity to see and network with leaders from local organizations that support NAVAIR and PAX River operations,” said Lance Alsheimer, Executive Vice President of DCS Corporation.
Lieutenant Governor Miller presented the Governor’s Citation to the Southern Maryland Navy Alliance, “Because of your demonstration of high integrity and ability, meriting our great trust and respect, we are most pleased to award you the Governor’s Citation in appreciation of your outstanding services to the citizens of the State.” The Citation was reflective of the over three decades of service to the Southern Maryland community, the U.S. Navy, and the State of Maryland.
The SMNA was established in 1992 and is a private organization whose mission is to support, promote, enhance and sustain the capabilities at Naval Air Station Patuxent River and Webster Out-Laying Field at St. Inigoes as well as across the Southern Maryland Region as an economic asset and critical resource for the U.S. Department of Defense and the State of Maryland.
The organization coordinates with Federal, State, and regional representatives as well as industry and education leaders to address critical issues and enable opportunities for the Navy and the southern Maryland region.
