SOUTHERN MARYLAND – Celebrate Independence Day with a bang in Southern Maryland in 2024! The region offers an array of spectacular fireworks displays and festivities perfect for families and friends. Whether you’re looking to witness dazzling fireworks over the water, enjoy live music and delicious food, or partake in family-friendly activities, Southern Maryland has something for everyone this 4th of July. Here’s a guide to the best spots to catch the fireworks in each county.
CALVERT COUNTY
The Town of Chesapeake Beach Independence Day Celebration on July 3 (Viewing begins at dusk – around 9 pm) – The Town of Chesapeake Beach’s upcoming Independence Day Celebration is scheduled for July 3, 2024, with a rain date of July 6, 2024. Every year the Town of Chesapeake Beach sponsors a fireworks display at the center of the Town. View their website for the traffic plan.
Solomons 2024 Fireworks on July 4 (9:15 pm approx.) – All events are FREE and open to the public. Updates are posted on Facebook. Parking: There is limited Street Parking on and around the island with overflow parking at Glascock Field for $5 starting at 3:00 pm. 100% of the proceeds from parking at Glascock Field will be donated to the Calvert High ROTC. Trolleys buses are planned to help transport visitors from Glascock Field and around the island.
Town of Indian Head Annual 4th of July Celebration on July 4 (starts at 3:30 pm, ticket booth closed at 7 pm), located at Village Green Park – Food vendors, live entertainment from CJ Rockin’ Roger & G Frequency, amusements and pony rides. Amusement will open at 4 pm and run until 8 pm. The event will finish with a beautiful fireworks display!
Regency Furniture Blue Crab’s Stadium Independence Day on July 4 (5 pm to 10 pm), located at 11765 St Linus Dr, Waldorf, MD – Come help us celebrate Independence Day from 5-10pm! Enjoy an incredible fireworks show right here at Regency Furniture Stadium! Free entry to the Kids Park! Food and games for a night of family fun! Tickets only $8!
ST. MARY’S COUNTY
St. Mary’s Freedom Fest on June 29 (3 pm to 10 pm), located at 42455 Fairgrounds Road, Leonardtown, MD – St. Mary’s Freedom Fest is an Independence Day celebration. Music, entertainment, food, activities and a grand fireworks display at dark. This is a free admission event.
Golden Beach Go 4th on the Rogue Festival & Fireworks Show on July 4 (12 pm to 10:30 pm) – Join us in Gold Beach for our annual family fun event! This year we will have live music, vendors, family activities and more! Hang out and celebrate with us throughout the day until we light off fireworks over the mouth of the Rogue River with the assistance of the Gold Beach Volunteer Fire Department!

Fourth at the Wharf: Event & Concert on July 4 (3 pm to 7 pm), located at Leonardtown Wharf, 22510 Washington St, Leonardtown, MD – Enjoy a fun afternoon of contests, activities, yard games, tasty food, and a FREE live concert featuring Midnight Sunsets! Tasty eats, treats, and beverages will be available for purchase. In addition to the concert, enjoy fun activities including a watermelon eating contest, dog parade, crab derby, ping pong, chess games, yard games, and more! This special event is brought to you by the Town of Leonardtown, the Leonardtown Business Association, and with the support of generous sponsors, Jimmy Hayden of RE/MAX 100, Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Town Market, and Earthwise Pet. River Concert Series: It’s A John Williams 4th, Plus 1812 & Fireworks on July 5 (7 pm to 9 pm), located at Townhouse Green, 47760 College Dr, St Marys City, MD – A Southern Maryland tradition, this family-friendly music festival, and winner of two Governor’s Awards for Arts, Tourism, and Community Economic Development will again be held on the St. Mary’s College Townhouse Green every Friday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (grounds opening at 5 p.m.) from June 21 through July 19. The River Concert Series and the appearances of The Chesapeake Orchestra are made possible by the generous contributions of sponsors, individual donations, The Maryland State Arts Council, The St. Mary’s County Arts Council and Commissioners of St. Mary’s County. Food and beverages, provided by local vendors, will be available for purchase on location. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own refreshments, blankets, and chairs. Pets are not allowed at the River Concerts. Concerts are FREE of charge and open to the public.
