Southern Maryland Bluegrass Continues With A Grand Ole Opry Star

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — The Calvert Elks Lodge 2620 in Prince Frederick, MD, the new home of Bluegrass in Southern Maryland, thanks to Jay Armsworthy who has put together some of the most national known singers and pickers in Bluegrass music from all genders of life today.  On Sunday November 17th, The Larry Stephenson Band will take the stage starting at 2 pm. 

The award-winning Larry Stephenson Band has been entertaining audiences for 35 years, celebrating their milestone career has included their numerous performances on the Grand Ole Opry, RFD-TV and headlining festivals and concerts across the US and Canada. The group is led by Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame member and 5-time Society for The Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America (SPBGMA) Male Vocalist of the year. They also inducted Stephenson into their Hall of Greats in 2018. With numerous IBMA and SPBGMA nominations and awards, Larry Stephenson Band records for Stephenson’s family-owned record label, Whysper Dream Music.  With ties to the King George area of Virginia, The Larry Stephenson Band have been a fan favorite in Southern Maryland for years. 

The star-studded line up continues on December 15th with the traditional Bluegrass sounds of Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers.  After the holidays, 2025 opens  up with the “Queen of Bluegrass Music” herself, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage from Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.  A rare and special occasion show sure not to miss.  The remainder of the series brings the return of fan favorites, Lonesome River Band on February 9th., a double header in March with the hard-core mournful sound of the Junior Sisk Band March 2nd and singer/songwriter Donna Ulisse making her 1st time appearance on March 23rdClosing the Southern Maryland Concert Series will be 10-time award winning Bass Player of the Year in Bluegrass music, Missy Raines and her band Alleghany.   

With another star-studded, award winning series of Bluegrass music, all shows start at 2:00 pm and the doors opening at Noon.  Tickets are $23.00 per person and under 12 free with a paid adult.  Food will be available for sale at each show from Noon until 2:00 pm.
