Serious Accident In Chaptico Leaves One Trapped And Three Injured

CHAPTICO, Md. – Emergency services responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on Maddox Road near Rivendell Way in Chaptico at approximately 9:15 p.m. last night, August 2, 2024. The collision involved two vehicles, one of which overturned multiple times before coming to rest upright.

Initial reports indicated that one individual was trapped inside a vehicle, prompting a rapid response from local emergency crews. Police arrived on the scene by 9:23 p.m. and found one vehicle on the roadway and another in the woods. The presence of downed utility poles and wires complicated rescue efforts.

By 9:29 p.m., rescue teams had successfully extricated the trapped individual. A total of three people were involved in the accident. One patient was transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance, while the others were treated at the scene. It is unknown at this time if further treatment was required for these patients. 

The Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) was notified to address the downed power lines. The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
