Samsung will be changing its established design language with the launch of the Galaxy A36 (and presumably the A56). We can see the new look in these 3D renders courtesy of Giznext and OnLeaks.
The phone will be stepping back in time – the three camera lenses on the back will no longer be separate elements, but will instead be grouped into a camera island with a vertical arrangement. This is akin to what we had with the Galaxy A30s a few years ago, among others.
Samsung Galaxy A36 (speculative renders)
Samsung will be retaining some design elements from the current A-series, like the Key Island (the bump where the Power and Volume keys are). The A36 will be a hair narrower than the A35, measuring 77.9mm wide (vs. 78.0mm) or 78.4mm, if you include the Key Island. The new model will be a bit taller at 162.6mm (vs. 161.7mm).
This is in part because Samsung is bumping up the screen size of the Galaxy A36 to 6.64” (up from 6.60”). The upcoming model will be slimmer than its predecessor, measuring 7.4mm (down from 8.2mm). Including the camera bump, the thickness goes up to 9.6mm. There’s no word on the battery capacity yet.
We recently saw the Samsung Galaxy A36 (SM-A366B) run Geekbench with Android 15. The chipset wasn’t entirely clear – it’s either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the 7s Gen 2. This represents yet another switch in suppliers for the A3x series, which went from Dimensity 1080 on the A34 and Exynos 1380 on the A35.

Anyway, back to the display – it’s a flat panel with a centered punch hole for the selfie camera and slightly asymmetrical bezels. In short, the A36 looks pretty much the same as its predecessor from the front. There’s no fingerprint reader on the side, so that will be built into the display (no changes here).
The Samsung Galaxy A56 also leaked recently, this one with a new Exynos 1580 chipset with AMD RDNA graphics. Don’t let these leaks get your hopes up, it will probably be a few more months before we see the A36 and A56 officially – the A35 and A55 launched in mid-March.
