Samsung gifted a Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to all the athletes at Paris 2024, and the company now revealed one of the most used features by participants and fans.
The new foldable is “creating and fostering meaningful communication” among athletes with the Interpreter feature, Samsung announced today. The feature allows two people to talk in real-time in their own languages, and the phone will automatically translate and even visualize the words on its two screens.

Team Samsung Galaxy members Wilma Anna Helena Murto from Finland (Athletics) and Alessandro Mazzara from Italy (Skateboarding) said the feature makes a difference, especially for people who often travel to different parts of the world.
Samsung also set up a demo shop at Champ-Elysees 125 and Square Marigny, where everyone was able to experience the new foldables in hand. Visitors called the Interpreter feature “convenient” and “helpful”, while a Samsung representative pointed out that the whole process is on-device with no need for an online connection.

Volunteers are also a key part of the Olympics, and Emmanuel Mantilla Jr. from the Philippines pointed out that they don’t even speak French, but the Interpreter app on their Galaxy S24 Ultra helped them communicate with fellow volunteers a lot.
Samsung’s involvement with the Olympic Games has been outstanding. The company provided over 200 smartphones to broadcast the Parade of the Athletes live. The units, all of them Galaxy S24 Ultra, were later used for broadcasting the sailing competition.
The Flip6 has been a major part of the awards ceremonies in Paris, including a viral heart-warming moment when athletes from North Korea, South Korea, and China took a selfie together, which many have called a “true Olympics moment” of unity.
