Ryan Reynolds has finally revealed the name of his fourth baby with Blake Lively!
On Monday, addressing the crowd from inside the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine in New York City, the 47-year-old actor let it slip that he and Lively, 36, are now parents to James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, and Olin, 1. Their first three children are all girls but they have not yet disclosed the sex of their youngest child.
“I want to start by saying thank you to my wife Blake, who is here,” Reynolds said while surrounded by his fellow Deadpool & Wolverine cast members. “I want to thank my kids James, Inez, Betty, Olin, who are here. I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing — that is, the contents of this movie — that happens in your wondrous life.”
Reynolds — after getting a wave of laughter from the audience — continued, “I love that my entire family is here.”
It’s an answer to a question that fans have been waiting more than a year for after the duo first surprised the world when Lively showed up to the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women’s Summit in September 2022 with a major accessory — a baby bump! After a scary interaction with the paparazzi — which the Gossip Girl actress detailed on her Instagram — the pair went understandably silent on their children.
In February 2023, however, fans were quick to notice that Lively was no longer sporting a baby bump in pictures posted to Instagram. Still, they have been hush-hush on the baby’s name, birthdate and sex since then.
Hilariously, Reynolds told Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on Today earlier this year that they are actually waiting on their good pal, Taylor Swift, to pick out the baby’s name. The 34-year-old crooner has worked their older three daughters’ names — James, Inez, and Betty — into lyrics for her 2020 folklore song, “Betty.”
“We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name will be,” Reynolds joked on Today. “We’re still waiting, so, Taylor, let’s maybe start, you know.”
In an interview with him at the premiere of If back in May, ET followed up with Reynolds about the youngster’s moniker, asking what they’re calling them while they wait for Swift to pick an official name.
“Oh, all the letters are silent,” he quipped of the baby, now known to be named Olin. “It just sort of sounds like a light breeze blowing through at this point, which is really hard if you get mad at the child for something…Yeah, it doesn’t work.”
As for the baby’s sex, while Olin appears to be a name most commonly associated with boys and traced back to Scandinavian roots, per BabyNames.com, Lively and Reynolds have yet to confirm if they are now parents to their first son. And hey, James is also traditionally a boy’s name so you never know!
During an appearance on Today in November 2023, Ryan revealed they do not find out the sex of their babies before they are born. “I know girls, so I’m sort of kind of hoping that,” he said, “but I’m ready for whatever happens.”
He later told ET of them getting ready to welcome baby No. 4, “We’re very excited. You know, we’d have to be… You’d have to be a moron to do this four times if you didn’t like it. It’s gonna be nuts, but we’re very excited.”
These days, aside from being parents to their ever-growing bunch, the actor and actress are both excited about their upcoming respective films, Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us. ET chatted with Reynolds on Monday from the premiere and he shared what it means to have his wife’s support going into his new movie.
“She’s amazing. She is so smart, everything I do is in lockstep with her and now she just takes every step with me — sometimes the scary steps, sometimes the ones that are, more often than not, aimed right at danger,” Reynolds joked of Lively, who he married in 2012.
He added, “I am super grateful to her. She’s just so smart and so funny and [she] like really, really helped in like every aspect of this movie.”
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26 and It Ends With Us premieres on Aug. 9.
