Robert Matthew “Bob” Greene, 91, of Hollywood, MD passed away on September 6, 2024 at Fort Washington Nursing Center.
He was born on April 16, 1933 in Baltimore City, MD to the late Raymond Joseph Hammett and Clara Agnes Greene.
Bob is a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland. On September 12, 1982, he married his beloved wife, Mary Martha Greene at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Together they celebrated almost 42 wonderful years of marriage. He spent his entire career working as a glass cutter and glazer; 30 years with the Department of Defense until his retirement in 1989. He spent an additional 3 years with Kirby Glass after retirement from the Naval Air Station. Bob enjoyed spending time on the water, boating and fishing. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida and Branson, MO. He was a skilled woodworker, making many pieces of beautiful furniture, including night stands, sconces, cabinets, and caskets for his beloved poodles, Trixie and Muffin.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary; Bob was also survived by his step-sons, John Steven Bean (Joyce) of Valley Lee, MD and David Michael Bean (Janet) of Mechanicsville, MD; his brother-in-law, James O. Dyson of Leonardtown, MD; step-grandchildren: Julie Bean (Steven), Michelle Brewer (Dwayne), David Bean, Jr. (Christina), John Bean, Jr., James Bean (Stephanie), and Justin Bean; step-great-grandchildren: Noah Brewer, Naomi Brewer, Hailey Bean, James Bean, Jr., Makaela Bean, MaKenzi Bean, Jaxson Bean, and Penelope Bean; cousin, Sonny Greene; and his beloved poodle, Peaches. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Family will receive friends for Bob’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 22800 Washington Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Reverend David Beaubien at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Face Catholic Church in Great Mills, MD.
Serving as pallbearers will be Noah Brewer, Dwayne Brewer, James Bean, James Dyson, Buddy Dean and Randy Dean. Honorary Pallbearer Naomi Brewer.
