ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The Historic St. Mary’s City BeerFest, held on June 22, 2024, was a vibrant and well-attended event, drawing over 1,400 attendees despite record-high temperatures. Caitlin Armsworthy, the strategic engagement manager and lead coordinator, shared her enthusiasm about the turnout and activities.
“Even though the day had record high temps, it didn’t stop over 1,400 attendees from coming out to enjoy all that BeerFest had to offer!” Armsworthy said. “We had three incredible bands, over 12 food vendors, and 7 wonderful Maryland beer vendors. A ton of info can be found on our website. We also featured some really awesome merchant vendors like Baney Bones, Kaleidoscope Baby, and Mary Lou Troutman art.”
The event catered to all ages, with a shaded kids zone full of obstacle courses. Families enjoyed a day of music, food, and fun, while beer enthusiasts sampled a variety of local brews. The Beermeister made a notable return, leading the day’s festivities, signing t-shirts, and MCing the bands.
“We saw an incredible showing of attendees from the DMV area military bases,” Armsworthy added, emphasizing the diverse crowd that came to support the event.
Sponsors such as ABC Liquors, Bae Systems, and The Maryland Lottery played a significant role in the event’s success, providing support and enhancing the overall experience for attendees. These sponsors, along with many others, helped make the event memorable and enjoyable for everyone.
Proceeds from the BeerFest support the Historic St. Mary’s City Foundation, which funds education and research at the museum. This outdoor museum of living history and archaeology, located on Maryland’s first capital site, benefits greatly from the community’s participation in events like BeerFest.
