RIVERSDALE, Md. – The Riversdale House Museum will be offering free tours for people of all ages on Fridays in September, October, and November of 2024. The earliest you can take a free tour is September 6th. The tours run from 12:00 to 1:00 pm and 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
The Riversdale House is a 19th-century plantation in which enslaved people once lived and labored. During the tour, you’ll get a glimpse into what life was like for both enslaved individuals and the families who lived on the plantation. This tour is a great opportunity for children and adults alike to learn more about 19th-century Maryland and plantations.
The Stier and Calvert families are two important points of focus during the tour, along with those who were enslaved, such as Adam Plummer. Visitors will get to explore the gardens and historic structures during the tour as well.

A tour of the Riversdale House Museum usually costs $5 for admission of an adult and $2 for admission of children above the age of four. However, Free Tour Fridays will give you the opportunity to explore the history of the plantation for free.
