MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – Following our August 22, 2024 article about the sad closing of the Speedway amidst lease issues, Budds Creek Motorcross Park has shared this from their Facebook page:
“Happy to announce that we have officially signed a letter of intent with Mr. David Williams to take over Potomac Speedway for the purpose of stock car racing. Potomac Speedway, started by my grandma, Penny Beasley, has been an institution in Southern Maryland for over 50 years. Mr. Williams has been an avid stock car racer for over 30 years. He has had a number of success ventures in St. Mary’s County including Hill’s Store and Southern Maryland RV Services. We look forward to getting the contact finalized soon for the Speedway.”
Baynet will update this story as information becomes available.
