Baltimore County police said detectives have taken several people into custody in connection with Tuesday’s shooting outside Catonsville High School.

Students returned to campus Wednesday, a day after a 16-year-old boy was shot in the school’s parking lot. Police said Wednesday afternoon that detectives believe this was a targeted shooting after an argument that began earlier in the day off school property.

The building was put on a brief lockdown Tuesday afternoon after a student was shot at the end of the school day.

Students and parents are still trying to process what happened, and there was extra support on hand Wednesday from the Baltimore County Police Department, school counselors and the superintendent, which seemed to help to put some parents at ease.
