Person in custody for vandalism at Northwest Academy

Baltimore County police have a person in custody after a weekend break-in at the Northwest Academy of Health Sciences in Pikesville. Police said 27-year-old Matthew Parry allegedly broke into the school and is now charged with trespassing, destruction of property and second-degree burglary. Baltimore County Public Schools released the following statement: “Due to an ongoing police investigation, Northwest Academy of Health Sciences will be closed today, May 22, 2023. There will be no afterschool or evening activities at Northwest Academy of Health Sciences.””I think that’s terrible because it’s taking away our children from learning,” said parent Dennis Addison.”I don’t really have any words, because nothing like this has happened before to my knowledge, and I’m just lost for words right now because this is a good school,” said parent Tangy Ray.Police don’t believe Parry has a connection to the school, so it is still unclear why he vandalized it.Police said they were able to use surveillance footage to identify the suspect’s vehicle.A bail review is set for Tuesday.
