LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – The Patuxent River Naval Air Museum (PRNAM) is proud to host this year’s International Aviation Art Exhibition and Forum, presented by The American Society of Aviation Artists (ASAA). The exhibition will feature more than 50 examples of original aviation art by some of the country’s foremost aviation artists. Each piece of art was juried into the exhibit by a panel of expert judges, who rated each entry on artistic merit and historical significance. There is no other exhibition like this in the United States.
Many of the artists represented in the exhibition will be at the PRNAM on Wednesday, June 19, painting and sketching all day in their natural habitat. Visitors will be able to talk with and watch these artists as they create original aviation art in real time.
They will have travelled from all corners of the country to attend this unique professional event. They will use the museum’s unique collection of flight test aircraft and artifacts as subjects. This will be an incredible opportunity for art enthusiasts, students, and aviation history buffs to interact with some of the best in the business.
The week will conclude with a banquet on Saturday evening, June 22, at which category and special awards will be presented to those artists whose works have been judged as the best of the best.
ASAA members will be immersed in professional activities during the week, including academic instruction and presentations highlighting flight test activities at Naval Air Station Patuxent River.
The exhibition will be on display at PRNAM until mid-October.
