FAULKNER, Md. – On July 24, 2024, at approximately 1:37 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Crain Highway near Popes Creek Road.
Upon arrival, crews discovered two vehicles with deployed airbags and both drivers trapped inside. One driver was not breathing, and two individuals were unconscious. Due to the severity of the situation, a MEDEVAC was pre-launched. Firefighters extricated the trapped occupant and handed them over to EMS.
EMS personnel confirmed that one driver was deceased at the scene and evaluated two patients: a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 20s.
Firefighters shut down northbound Crain Highway and established a landing zone near the scene for Maryland State Police Troopers 2 and 7. Trooper 2 airlifted one patient to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center, while Trooper 7 transported the second patient to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.
The identity of the deceased victim will be released once next of kin have been notified.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
Southbound Crain Highway will remain closed for an extended period.
