North Beach American Film Festival Returns For Its 8th Year!

NORTH BEACH, Md. – The North Beach American Film Festival (NBAFF) is thrilled to announce its return for the 8th annual celebration of independent cinema, taking place from September 20 to 22, 2024, in the picturesque town of North Beach, Maryland.

This year’s festival promises a compelling lineup of over 20 films from across the United States, showcasing a diverse range of stories, voices, and creative visions. Among the highlights of the festival is the thought-provoking documentary “It’s Not Just Politics,” directed by Liz Asner, daughter of the legendary actor Ed Asner. The film offers a deep dive into the polarization of American politics, challenging viewers to reconsider their perspectives on divisive issues.

Another must-see is “Modern Love,” the winner of the 48 Hour Richmond Festival and a fresh and fashionable reimagining of Agatha Christie’s classic, “And Then There Was.” This head-trippy adaptation promises to captivate audiences with its quirky storytelling and striking visual style.

The festival will also host the premiere screening of “The Hurtz Brothers,” a feature film directed by festival producer Anthony M. Greene, predominantly shot in Calvert County and North Beach. This local production is a testament to the rich talent and scenic beauty of the region, making it a particularly special addition to this year’s program.

In collaboration with Artworks on 7th gallery, the NBAFF will offer a special free screening block of “art-centric” short films, including the unique documentary short “Looking Inward: Art & History in Kent County, MD”. This unique event aims to bridge the worlds of cinema and visual arts, offering a platform for creative expression that resonates with the local artistic community.
