EDGEWATER, Md. — Naval Bagels, a beloved local institution, celebrated the grand opening of its newest location in Edgewater on Saturday, October 12, 2024. The ceremony marked the expansion of the popular bagel shop to 3139 Solomons Island Road, bringing its signature water bagels and community spirit to a new neighborhood.
Known for their traditional boiled-and-baked method, Naval Bagels has garnered a loyal following with specialties like the Avocado Delight sandwich. “It must be the good Severn River water,” joked one longtime customer, referencing the shop’s commitment to authentic bagel-making techniques.
Beyond serving up delicious fare, Naval Bagels has established itself as a community cornerstone. The shop actively supports local causes, sponsoring school auctions, cancer benefits, and running races. It’s also a proud backer of Naval Academy Athletics and the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Inside the new location, patrons will find the familiar whiteboard featuring inspirational quotes, trivia, and local information, alongside newspapers for a morning read. “We’re not just about bagels,” said the owner, “We’re about creating a space where the community can come together.”
