SUITLAND, Md. – Nicholas Conrad Norris, 23, of Suitland, Maryland, has been arrested and charged with numerous offenses related to the illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and a destructive device, as well as charges stemming from a non-contact shooting incident earlier this month.
According to court documents, on July 5, 2024, at approximately 6:25 AM, officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to a reported shooting at a business in the 5100 block of Auth Road. The victim reported that the suspect, later identified as Norris, shot at him while attempting to steal an item. The victim was not injured.
During the investigation, detectives from the Gun Crimes Unit identified Norris as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with attempted first and second-degree murder, armed robbery, and related offenses. Norris was taken into custody on July 12, 2024. Subsequently, investigators obtained a search warrant for his residence on Oakland Way, in Camp Springs, MD.
The search, conducted by the Gun Crimes Unit alongside deputies from the Sheriff’s Department, revealed a significant cache of weapons and ammunition in Norris’s bedroom and surrounding areas. Officers discovered a Remington shotgun, a revolver in the nightstand, an AR-15 rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition, multiple magazines exceeding legal limits, hundreds of rounds of various types of ammunition, and a flashbang grenade.
Norris now faces a series of charges, including illegal possession of regulated firearms, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a destructive device, and possession of detachable magazines with capacities exceeding legal limits. Additionally, he is charged with possessing a shotgun and a rifle while being disqualified from firearm ownership due to a current protective order and previous juvenile adjudications for disqualifying crimes.
The statement of probable cause detailed that Norris’s possession of these firearms and explosives was in direct violation of the protective order. The search extended to other areas of the basement, uncovering additional firearm components and ammunition, further supporting the illegal possession charges.
Court records indicate that Norris’s preliminary hearing for these charges is scheduled for August 13, 2024, in the Prince George’s District Court. He is currently being held without bond at the Prince George’s County Detention Center. The charges against him carry significant potential penalties, with some offenses warranting up to 25 years in prison and fines reaching $250,000.
