Multi-Vehicle Crash On Route 231 Leaves Two Trapped And Serverly Injured

BENEDICT, Md. — A serious two-vehicle crash on Route 231 Hallowing Point Road near the Benedict Bridge Tuesday morning left multiple people injured and trapped.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 11:00 a.m. on September 17, 2024. Upon arrival, crews found occupants trapped in both vehicles, with one female unconscious and unresponsive. Firefighters extracted both trapped occupants within 20 minutes. EMS evaluated both patients and requested two MEDEVACs.

A landing zone was established at the Calvert County Fair Grounds for Maryland State Police, Trooper 2 helicopter while awaiting the Trooper 6 helicopter. Trooper 2 arrived and airlifted the first patient to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

The crash has caused significant traffic delays as State Highway assists with traffic control. Motorists are advised to expect ongoing traffic disruptions in the area as the investigation and accident reconstruction proceed.
