Maryland women’s basketball will play Texas at the inaugural Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, N.J., on Jan. 20, 2025, it was announced Tuesday. The game will be aired on Fox.
The Longhorns were ranked No. 7 at the end of last season. They will be the Terps’ third-highest-ranked opponent based on last year’s rankings, behind Iowa and USC — although Iowa is much less of a threat without Caitlin Clark.
Maryland and Texas have met six times in the programs’ history, with Maryland leading the series, 4-2. The last contest came in the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, where the Terps lost, 64-61.
