Maryland football safety Dante Trader Jr. was selected to the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy watch list, it was announced Thursday.
The Wuerffel Trophy is college football’s premier achievement in the realm of community service and is regarded as one of the sport’s most meaningful honors. It is awarded to the player who exemplifies a commitment to humanitarian efforts, serving others and making a positive impact on society. There will be 19 total recipients throughout the season.
Trader, now a senior with the Terps, was also nominated for the award last season. In addition, he was recently selected as an AFCA Good Works Team Nominee.
During his time at Maryland, Trader has been a significant contributor to the College Park community. Last year, he helped raise money toward fully-loaded backpacks for elementary schools in Washington, D.C., and frequently participates in community service events with underprivileged youth in the DMV area.
