MM 7.26: 7 Maryland football players selected to Shrine Bowl 1000 list

Seven Maryland football players were chosen for the East-West Shrine Bowl Watch List, comprised of 1,000 of the best collegiate players who are all-star game eligible for 2025, it was announced Tuesday.

The players selected for the Terps include defensive lineman Tommy Akingbesote, wide receiver Tai Felton, running back Roman Hemby, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, defensive back Glen Miller, wide receiver Kaden Prather, and defensive back Dante Trader Jr. Last year, four Terps ultimately participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl.

Felton and Prather will return as Maryland’s solid one-two punch at wide receiver. Last year, Felton was named a 2023 third-team All-Big Ten selection, leading the team with six receiving touchdowns. Meanwhile, Prather made a quick impact in his first season with the Terps, snagging 42 catches for 666 yards and five touchdowns.

Hemby returns as the team’s versatile running back. He has amassed 1,740 rushing yards and 648 receiving yards in his collegiate career.

On defense, the tandem of Trader Jr. and Miller at safety makes a return. Trader has 131 tackles and four interceptions in his career, while Miller has racked up 61 tackles and four interceptions across four years in College Park.

Hyppolite heads into his fifth season as a Terp with 170 career tackles at linebacker, while Akingbesote has three sacks and three tackles for loss in three seasons.
