Maryland football secured a major addition to its 2025 recruiting class on Friday with the commitment of four-star athlete Zymear Smith.
Listed at 6-foot, Smith is a rising senior who is ranked as the No. 10 athlete in the country and the No. 7 player in Maryland, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Smith, who plays for North Caroline High School, has excelled on both sides of the ball. As a running back, he recorded 71 carries for 609 yards and seven touchdowns, earning all-state honors. Additionally, he caught nine passes for 380 yards and four touchdowns.
On defense, Smith posted 20 tackles, seven pass breakups and three interceptions.
Initially committed to Alabama, Smith decided to flip his commitment to Maryland after an official visit to College Park. With his addition, Maryland’s 2025 recruiting class now includes four four-star players.
