Maryland men’s basketball announced on Tuesday a four-game series against Georgetown starting in the 2025-26 season.
Maryland is set to host Georgetown in the fall of 2025 and the 2027-28 season, and then travel to Georgetown in the 2026-27 and 2028-29 seasons.
The Terps’ last encounter with their DMV rival was on Nov. 15, 2016, when Maryland stole a 76-75 victory.
Maryland currently leads the all-time series against Georgetown, 38-27, a rivalry dating back to 1911. They have met twice in the NCAA Tournament, with the Hoyas winning 1980 and the the Terps winning in 2001.
One of the most memorable matchups between the two teams occurred in 1993, when the unranked Terps clinched a victory against the No. 15 Hoyas on a last-second basket by Duane Simpkins. That game served as the lone meeting between their March Madness encounters.
