Meta Rolls Out Updated Ad Options for the Holidays


With Christmas fast approaching, Meta has announced some new ad updates for the end-of-year push, including easier-to-apply discount codes, updated reminder ads, in-store shopping promotions, and more.

First off, Meta’s updating its discount code promo options, with a more prominent code notification, which automatically adds the code at the checkout.

As you can see in this example, now, advertisers will be able to highlight their discount code on an overlay ad, and users will be able to action the code more easily.

Meta says that it’s also testing first purchase offers and personalized discounts in order to drive more interest in in-stream offers. Meta also updated its discount code process back in July to make it easier to add your discount promotions to your ads.

The added prompts will help to keep your offers front of mind, driving more engagement, while Meta’s also increasing the frequency of reminder notifications to ensure that you can maximize awareness.

Meta’s also updating its site links option, which enables brands to add multiple landing pages to a single image or video ad in the Facebook Feed.

As per Meta:

“With site links, people can go directly to a specific landing page for various categories with just one click from the ad.

There’s also a new way to drive in-store purchase activity, with a new promotion type that will enable advertisers to show ads to people most likely to shop in-store, based on past engagement and location.

Finally, Meta’s also adding a new way to target prospective tourists who are considering holiday options in your region.

“For example, if a person is planning a trip for the holidays and engaging with social content or searching for new things to do in that city, they may receive ads from businesses looking to capture seasonal sales.

So you’ll be able to reach people based on their holiday discovery engagement, which could be a good way to drive more interest for certain brands and offerings.

These are some interesting updates, which add more considerations for your holiday push. And while some of them will hold specific niche appeal, the capacity to offer more reminders, and to better guide shopping activity, could be a valuable option for many brands this upcoming holiday season.
