Maryland small businesses can still apply for financial assistance. Here's how.
The Restaurant Association of Maryland says the state’s restaurant and foodservice industry has lost approximately $1.4 billion in sales since the start of the pandemic and as many as 150,000 restaurant staff members have been furloughed or laid off.
RAM also projects 4,000 restaurants could close permanently under mandated restrictions.
Montgomery County has already voted to restrict restaurants, retailers, and other venues including places of worship to 25% of capacity. Starting Friday, Governor Larry Hogan will require all bars and restaurants to close at 10 p.m. as the state rolls back to Phase 2.
Council members are calling on the governor for a statewide shutdown and are even pushing for Virginia and D.C. to act together with a stay-at-home order.
The Reopen Montgomery Grant Program is funded by the CARES Act and must be used by December 31, 2020.
